Go take more photos
When was the last time you took photos... for fun?
Think back to your first camera. Remember all those years ago? Perhaps it was a nice sunny evening, and your grandfather passed to you his treasure. Or maybe it was a rainy Monday, and you saw something that caught your eye in a store. Whenever it was, it was a moment that changed your life.
You picked up that camera, and took a photo. You were then taking photo after photo. Everywhere you went, that camera came with you. Each picture cost you a dime, yet for some reason you didn't care. It was just so much fun, and you were the photographer of the family.
When was the last time you felt that kind of excitement? It seems like a distant memory.
In the modern age, we are so caught up in life that we forget to take some time to ourselves.
So how about we recreate that first moment?

This map allows you to place a location, and then draw a circle around it. Pick your home, and then put in a random milage for your radius. Once the circle is on the map, take a look at the outside ring of your circle. Find a landmark that is placed along it, and now let's travel to it!
What to bring
Don't you even dare to think about bringing your trinity of lenses. Bring instead a classic lens. What did you first shoot with? Maybe it was a kit lens, but that's a little too basic. Grab a nifty fifty out of your back pocket, and bring that with you. The nifty fifty and your camera body is all you need. Bring anything else, and you will start thinking too much about your photos. Remember, you are here to have fun. Whether you truly create a masterpiece of a photo or not is a side affect. And guess what? Even with this basic setup, we already know you have the skills to make a beautiful photo.
Running short on ideas?
In the back of that head of yours, there are a million ideas on how to pose someone for portraits. But you're now out on a location... alone. It feels odd. You want to be creative, but don't know where to start. If your at that point, take a moment to open up Pinterest. Not for too long though! Top yourself off at 5 minutes to get a few ideas, and then challenge yourself to grow from there. You will notice that your creativity is coming back to you.
But why even bother?
You might be saying to yourself, "Yeah having fun is... fun and all. But how does this help me? I'm here to take photos as a business." Don't let that kind of thinking get to you! You need to take some time to enjoy the small moment in life. This will help you relax, and get you to take better photos while also working! It may even inspire you to find new locations and come up with more creative ideas to use with your clients!
